Science in Kindergarten & 1st Grade

Kindergarten and 1st grade are doing an awesome project in science. I bet they all love it. Now the project is a vibration and sound project. Mr. Bixler just uses a resonance bowl (Chinese pot), his hands, and water. He fills the resonance bowl with water and gets his hands wet and rubs the pot with the palm of his hand and water goes flying up making a vibration sound that fills the room. This is what kindergarten and 1st graders are doing. This must be a fun experience for them.

2nd and 3rd Experiences with Science

2nd and 3rd are working on nature science and some Ozobot and I’ll explain what Ozobot  are. Ozobots are little tiny bots that can follow a line that you draw. It must be awesome. Next is nature science one of their projects is to see helicopter leaves fly around and talk about it. Now that is an awesome project. This is what Mr. Bixler is doing with 1st and 2nd graders.

4th and 5th Experiments

The 4th and 5th graders are working on electricity and how it transfers through many interesting things. We’re using a device called a makey-makey and alligator clips. Here are a couple things it transfers through, the human body, play doh, tin plate, and a paperclip. They are also doing ozobots which follow lines you draw. They also do motions that you do with colors on the line. Here is what one 5th grader, from Ms. Formway’s class has to say about science with Mr.Bixler, “Science is a great class if you want to become an engineer but it’s still a great skill to learn,” Colin Scout.

In Mr.Bixler’s science with Kindergarten classes and 1st grade classes are doing vibration and sound. 2nd and 3rd classes are doing nature and some robots. Last but not least 4th and 5th classes are doing electricity and how to transfer electricity and ozobots. Science seems to be fun and exciting for all grades at Columbus.
