Our New Teachers

New Teachers!

Hi today, my friends and I are going to tell you about the New Teachers at Columbus Elementary written by Ana, Montserrat, Sawyer and Leo. 

This is Ms. Gregory she is a speech teacher at Columbus. She helps kids pronounce words and say speech sounds by working on tongue placement  

This is Mrs. Benenati. She helps kids with reading, writing, math and other things that kids are struggling with.

This is Miss. Whittle. She is a school counselor at Columbus. She helps students with calming down, managing emotions and helping making friends. 

This is Mrs. Strebeck. She helps kids focus by doing hand movements. She gets attention from kids by “being fun”. Kids were very nervous on the first day of school. In the lockdown drill it made the kids kind of scared.

This is Miss. Yahn. She is a 3rd grade teacher. The way that Miss Yahn helps her students is one on one work, groups and math coach.

This is Mr. McNicholas. He is a 2nd grade teacher at Columbus. Mr. McNicholas helps the students with what they need to know, for example he does small groups which means he can give one on one support with their learning. Mr. McNicholas is from Ireland. He just moved to America in 2021. 

This is Mr. Elguezabal and when his students feel sad they we use art. A couple kids go to speech. His class has a strategy called counting on and drawing. To get the class’s attention he rings a Bell.
