Next week, the 5th graders will go outdoors, and I will tell you most of the things you need to know about outdoor school before the 5th grade. This is the first year where we stay 4 days and 3 nights. We were the first school to go to outdoor school at Twin Rock Camp Rockaway Beach.
One of the cool things that we get to do is dissect dogfish, and we get to go kayaking. We also go hiking in the forest, then up a mountain and to the beach.
We also do a lot of activities, like shooting a bow and arrow, eating tasty food at the cafeteria and playing air hockey or mini golf. We will be in cabin groups with high school counselors and play things like football, basketball and beach volleyball. You can play human foosball and you can play Frisbee golf. There is the best sportsmanship ever award.
We also get to have a wood cookie (name tag) if you lose something, you have to dance and sing on stage. You get to make campfires on the beach and no phones are allowed at outdoor school. If you do, they would bring them to your mom and dad at the end of outdoor school.
You have to have a buddy at all times and you have to have your counselors know where you are and go with you. You will not know who you will be in a cabin with until you get there. You have to keep your cabin clea. You get prizes for the most clean cabin and for the best table manners. Also, for skits and campfires, smores bonfires as well and it will be at the beach. You have to get up at 7:00 and you have to go to bed at 11:00.And you can not go swimming there is a thing called beach olympics it’s cabin vs cabin and you get brands.
Outdoor School will have many things to keep us busy!
